TCS employees dedicated 87.1 learning hours in AI

The company has also evidenced its involvement in over 200 GenAI projects and the acquisition of new deals worth $13.2 billion. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has established a formidable presence in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, with employees dedicating an average of 87.1 learning hours in the fiscal year 2024 (FY24). This commitment is part of TCS’ broader strategy to enhance its capabilities in generative AI (GenAI). The company has evidenced its involvement in over 200 GenAI projects and the acquisition of new deals worth $13.2 billion. In an email to employees marking the beginning of FY2024-25, K Krithivasan, CEO, TCS, emphasised the company’s progress in building a world-class AI-ready workforce. The mail further highlighted the increase in average learning hours from 82.4 hours in FY23 to 87.1 hours in FY24. This growth spans all levels of the organisation, with senior employees also increasing their learning hours.

Skillible launches SAMBAV to revolutionise tech education in India

Skillible, a company in experiential learning for emerging technologies, has launched an innovative initiative called SAMBAV, short forb Skillible’s Academic Model for Business-To-Academic Ventures. Petersen moves from Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she was VP-HR, laboratory chemicals. After a successful five-year long tenure at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Lori Petersen has joined Cipla has vice president-human resources. Having begun her professional journey in 2001, with MRINetwork, as research manager, Petersen comes with over two decades of experience. She served as talent acquisition specialist at CHEP from 2006 to 2008 before moving on to Rolls-Royce in June of 2008.

Anand Pillai appointed chief strategy officer & professor of practice, Christ University, Bangalore

Pillai moves from LogarithmHR, where he was director since September 2020. Anand Pillai has been appointed chief strategy officer and professor of practice, Christ University, Delhi NCR, Bangalore and Lavasa. He has to his credit an illustrious career spanning over 40 years in strategic planning and innovation. Having started his professional journey as a management trainee with DCM in 1982, Pillai has come a long way. From 1984 to 1987, he was area manager, Schlumberger JV with Tatas through NELCO. Three years later, he moved on to join Tata Consultancy Services, as major account manager, in 1986. For the next six years, he held various portfolios from Unix systems administrator to major account manager in Burroughs (which later became UNISYS). He also trained and got certified in several international programmes, which made him capable of coaching managers within the company.

Hero Vired ropes in Prakhar Kasar for CEO role

Kasar moves from MakeMyTrip where he was VP & business head MyBiz:Make My Trip for Work. Hero Vired has appointed Prakhar Kasar as its chief executive officer. Kasar has been brought on at a time when the learntech platform, which is a part of the Hero Group, is trying to expand its reach and impact in the online education space. Backed by over 16 years of experience, Kasar began his professional journey with Pepsico India, as management trainee, in 2008. Within a year, he was promoted to territory development manager. Two and a half years into this role, he was promoted again, to assistant brand manager. By 2014, he had become the brand manager-beverage innovation, based out of Gurgaon.

Periodic salary increments define permanent employment: HC

The Madhya Pradesh High Court also affirmed that the concept of a 'permanent job' extends beyond government employment. In a landmark ruling, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has clarified that the term “permanent job” for motor accident compensation claims includes more than just government servants. This decision broadens the scope for granting future prospects in such cases. The court emphasised that any job where the salary is periodically increased or receives annual increments qualifies as a permanent job. This decision came in response to an appeal seeking an enhancement of the compensation awarded by the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Bhopal.

State government extends HRA until June 2025.

 

Secretary (Finance) M Janaki issued the order on Monday, 29 July. he State government has announced an extension of the House Rent Allowance (HRA) at 24 per cent of basic pay, capped at Rs 25,000. It includes all employees of the Secretariat and heads of departments (HoDs), until June 2025. In January 2022, the government had implemented the 11th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations. At that time, the HRA was revised to 24 per cent of basic pay with a maximum limit of Rs 25,000 for employees of the Secretariat and HoDs, effective from 1 January, 2022, to June 2024.

An activity that was conducted by a group of HR students in a lecture on Jo-Hari Window Analysis. The purpose of the activity was to demonstrate the group dynamics that a business manager brings to an organization. The activity consisted of the following steps:

  • Each participant listed 5 out of 56 adjectives what best describes them and their team members each.
  • Each participant wrote 5 qualities that they wish to disclose to the group on themselves. Also they received feedback on 5 qualities about themselves that the other team members wish to disclose to the given team member.
  • The participants then discussed their analysis and enlarged their 'Open windows' and increased self awareness through group interventions.
  • The participants then filled a Jo Hari Window Analysis Questionnaire and discovered what facet of the group persona they fit into like 'Open', 'Hidden', 'Unknown' and 'Blind'

The Indian producer of aluminium has announced the expansion of its skill-development initiatives across its locations on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day.

Sanjay Gawde elevated to head-HR and admin, Mahindra Logistics

Gawde has been with the Mahindra Group since December 2021, earlier handling group rewards and later heading group talent management. Sanjay Gawde has been appointed head-HR and administration and senior management personnel (SMP), Mahindra Logistics, starting 1 October 2024. He will take over from Edwin Lobo who is opting for early retirement. Gawde’s association with the Mahindra Group began in 2021, with him handling group rewards for over two years before heading group talent management in February 2024.
