Dell, NSDC, American India Foundation tie up to skill 100,000 students

University of Mumbai is also part of this ‘Project Future Ready’ collaboration. Dell Technologies, American India Foundation (AIF), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the University of Mumbai have come together to launch the ‘Project Future Ready’ programme that aims to provide career guidance to college students and make them more employable. With AIF as an implementation partner and NSDC as the skilling partner, the project will benefit 100,000 students in Mumbai and Delhi NCR, 60 per cent of whom will be girls. Dell Technologies is committed to its goal of ensuring that 50 per cent of those benefitting from its social and educational programmes will be girl, every year, for the next ten years. Students will be provided career mentoring, opportunity to leverage online skilling platforms and a chance to acquire market aligned skills training to encourage an entrepreneurial mind-set and also make them more employable. On completion of the program, the students will receive a certification from NSDC and the University of Mumbai.

BIT Mesra, BIT Sindri, NIT Raipur win Tata Steel’s ‘Mind Over Matter’ Season 7

 

The Company’s annual innovation challenge saw over 500 participants this year. Pranav Pandey and Pratibha Patel from BIT Mesra, have gone home with a prize money of Rs one lakh and a trophy. They were the winners of Tata Steel’s ‘Mind Over Matter’ Season 7. The first runners-up were Aditi Sinha and Soumyadeep Singha from BIT Sindri, who received a cash prize of Rs 75,000. The second runners-up position went to Anirudh Roy and Shikhar Ranjan from NIT Raipur, who received a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The three winning teams received certificates of recognition and pre-placement interviews (PPI). All other participating teams got certificates of participation along with goodie bags. Aptly called, ‘Mind Over Matter’, this contest encourages research and collaboration amongst corporates, academia and students. The innovation programme has been challenging the sharpest, brightest, young minds from the premier engineering institutes across India for giving ideas and solutions on various real-life technical challenges related to steel making, for about seven years now. The students get the opportunity to be mentored by top R&D experts at Tata Steel in a two-month internship.

SBI to offer MOOCs on edX platform starting November

 

Learners do not require any specific qualifications to apply for the courses. State Bank of India (SBI) and non-profit education platform, edX, are collaborating to develop the skill sets of interested learners to help their careers grow in this fast-paced competitive world. As part of this partnership, SBI will offer its Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on the edX platform with effect from November 2020. At first three courses will be offered — Unleashing Creativity at the Workplace, Relationship Marketing Strategy for Financial Services and Conflict Resolution. Each of these courses will last for four to six weeks, with students expected to spend two to three hours per week per course. No specific qualification is necessary for interested learners to apply for these courses. These courses have been curated and designed by experienced and practising bankers with excellent academic credentials.
