1. Ms. Pranjali
Marathe, Human Resources Manager, Ernst and Young – EY, Ms. Deanne D'souza, Sr.
Human Resources Manager, Nishit Desai Associates and Mr. Sarang Kulkarni, Human
Resources Manager, Keva - Fragrances, Flavours & Aroma Ingredients, was
able to relate well with 15 students of HR Specialisation – (MMS/ PGDM, 1st
Year, Batch 2016-18), on Saturday, 18th February 2017 in Class Room 301,
3rd Floor.
2. The topic was, ‘Career
planning in HR: Campus to corporate transitions’.
3. Prof. (Mrs.)
Merlyn Michael D’souza moderated the panel discussion with opening remarks and
timely interaction on various areas.
4. Mr. Sarang
Kulkarni talked about student’s role in transforming oneself from CHRO to CEO
through the different role of administration, internal operations, consulting,
HR Business partner, HR operations, industrial relations, employee relations,
HR technology, shared services and few others.
a. He urged all to
have a strong business sense along with domain knowledge. He invited all to
create their expectations and shared his journey across industries that helped
his development.
b. He asked
students to read newspapers, brush-up their MS-Office skills and so on.
5. Ms. Pranjali
explained various fields in HR with examples.
a. The fields
include organization development, compensation, business HR, recruitment,
learning and development, among others.
b. She shared that
HR qualities of maintaining confidentiality, being thick skinned, having good
emotional stamina, communication skills, and business knowledge was the need of
the hour.
c. She explained
how to build one’s emotional stamina with her own professional struggle.
d. She spoke how
goals help to shape one’s career.
6. Ms. Deanne
D’souza summed up her entire talk in 3 key take-a-ways.
a. They include
pursue one’s calling, doing something right every day and talent acquisition.
b. She spoke how
the journey as well as the goal helps one to maintain the pursuance of one’s
calling.
7. Students asked
questions and the panel asked students different queries. On the whole, the
session was helpful and there was a good discussion of feelings and factual information.
