Sofia Merlo is new head-group HR and member, Executive Committee, BNP Paribas

 

Merlo has had a long association with the French banking group. Sofia Merlo is the new head of group human resources and a member of the executive committee at BNP Paribas. She succeeds Yves Martrenchar, who is presently the senior advisor and will superannuate in May, 2021. Merlo joined the French international banking group almost three decades ago, in 1985, handling corporate clients at the head office and running the Bank’s business centre for the South-West region in France. In 2000, she joined the HR team of the Group, and within four years went on to head ‘career management’ for the Group. In the over four years that she spent in this position, from 2004 to 2008, she managed to successfully launch various diversity policies for the Group. As head of individual career management at the BNP Paribas Group, Merlo was in charge of managing the career for the top executives, handling succession planning as well as corporate training.

Heineken appoints Yolando Talamo as chief people officer

 

Talamo will succeed Chris Van Steenbergen who will retire as CHRO on January 1, 2021. Yolando Talamo, senior VP – HR, Heineken, will be succeeding Chris Van Steenbergen as chief people officer at Heineken Americas. Steenbergen will superannuate on January 1, 2021 after a successful six-year long tenure as chief human resources officer and executive team member at the Dutch brewing company. Prior to joining Heineken, Steenberg had worked for Royal DSM and also spent almost two decades at Cadbury Schweppes in various senior positions. He is credited with maintaining the Heineken culture across its offices worldwide. He managed to successfully standardise the HR processes in the Company and build the Company’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) agenda. He was responsible for the hiring and development of several senior managers in the Company. Talamo has been with Heineken ever since she moved from SAB Miller in 2016, where she was senior vice president – human resources, Latin America. She has also worked as CHRO, Cisneros. Having spent 18 years at Procter & Gamble, in various senior positions, Talamo gained vast experience in the HR domain.

Lowe’s India appoints Mohith Mohan as senior director – HR

Mohan moves from Hudson’s Bay Company, where he was divisional VP and site leader. Lowe’s India has announced the appointment of Mohith Mohan as the senior director for human resources in India. Mohan has move from Hudson’s Bay Company, where he was the divisional vice president and site leader, responsible for building business capability and India site strategy. In his new role at the Bengaluru-based retail technology, analytics and business operations centre for Lowe’s Companies Inc., Mohan will be responsible for change management, recruitment, workforce planning, compensation & benefits, employee relations, and performance management. He will also oversee the culture and diversity activities of the 2900+ strong workforce. Ankur Mittal, VP- technology & managing director, Lowe’s India, believes that Mohan “will continue to lead and foster a culture focused on attracting, retaining, and developing talent strategies.”
