1.  Mindtree rejigs top leadership positions, Suresh B is new CPO

He takes over from Paneesh Rao, who will now essay the role of global head of sustainability Mindtree has appointed Suresh Bethavandu as its new chief people officer . He will take over the responsibility of leading the people strategy agenda from Paneesh Rao, who is now the global head of sustainability at the tech company confirms a spokesperson of Mindtree with HRKatha. At Mindtree, he will be responsible for all key dimensions of the talent lifecycle spanning recruitment, performance management, compensation, operations, learning and development, leadership development, career design, competency development, workforce planning, resource management, and organisation development. Meanwhile, Paneesh Rao has now taken up a role as the global head of sustainability at Mindtree, which he had been planning to do for a while now, as revealed by sources close to the development.

Rao will lead the environment, social and governance for Mindtree, adding to the diverse set of experiences in his career.

2. Unilever’s global CHRO Leena Nair is now global CEO, Chanel

Leena Nair  joins the elite club where the CHRO takes the role of a CEO. Leena Nair, global CHRO at Unilever has joined the French fashion and apparel brand, Chanel, as CEO. Nair was named the global CHRO at Unilever exactly six years ago on December 14, 2016. Having joined Unilever in 1992 as a management trainee, she has served in various roles and capacities during her three-decade long stint there. In 2007, Nair was appointed the executive director – HR at Hindustan Unilever before she went into a global role as the SVP-leadership & organisational development and global head of diversity and inclusion, in 2013.

3. Cognizant gets Soma Pandey as head-talent management

Pandey takes up this role at a time when Cognizant is in the midst of facing high attrition rate and major senior leadership exits. Cognizant has appointed Soma Pandey as its new head of talent management in India. In this new assignment, Pandey will be heading the enterprise talent strategy, including addressing key people practices, talent and performance management, learning and leadership development, culture and employee experience. In the initial phase of her career, Pandey worked with ITC where she spent four years and served her last position as an HR manager. After spending two years at Mastek, Pandey went on to join Accenture as GM-HR and within two years she was promoted as the vice president-HR there.

She spent a little more than six years at Accenture before taking up the role of chief people officer at Randstad India, a manpower and staffing company. «I am excited to join at this time of growth, and partner with team members across all levels to ensure Cognizant continues to be a place where everyone is driven by purpose and empowered to do their life’s best work,» shares Pandey. Pandey is an alumna of the Xavier Labour Relations Institute in Jamshedpur, India and is an SHRM Senior Certified Professional.
