‘Draw a plan for KSRTC salary payments’: Kerala HC tells state govt

Employees have been demanding that their salaries be paid before the 5th of every month. The Government of has received orders from the Kerala High Court to create a plan that will ensure that the salaries of the employees of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) are paid to them on time every month. The single bench comprising Justice Devan Ramachandran observed that till KSRTC manages to settle all its loans and pending dues, it cannot become self-sufficent. However, he did hope that in the future KSRTC will at some point become self-sufficient after it has cleared all its pending commitments and be in a position to fulfil its own expenses. The employees were paid their salaries for October as assured by the Court to KSRTC. However, this was done with the financial aid and support of the state government in the form of almost Rs 50 crore.

Unilever to start 4-day work week trial in Australia

The Company’s pilot in New Zealand has given great results over an 18-month period. The employees of Unilever in Australia will soon be part of a trial to study the effectiveness of a four-day work week. Starting 14 November 2022, all the 500 employees of the consumer goods company in Australia will work only for four days a week with no change in their pay. A similar trial by the Company in New Zealand that lasted from December 2020 to June 2022, gave very positive and encouraging results.

Karnataka CM asks govt. staff to work 1 hr extra daily

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has appealed to all the state- government employees of Karnataka to work one hour extra daily. On 10 November, 2022 Bommai was speaking at an event where a delegation of Karnataka State Government Employees Association was facilitating him for constituting the 7th Pay Commission and implementing a revised pay scale for state government employees.

Bommai appealed to the employees to work an hour extra so that the State can develop fast and contribute to the larger dream of making India a $5 trillion economy. He specially emphasised on helping the poor, the downtrodden and the women in the State. Bommai urged that in the dream of making India a $5 trillion economy, Karnataka’s contribution should be about $1 trillion.
