Ms. Renu Nargunde, HR Psychologist/
Counsellor – British Council of India, was able to relate well with 47 students
of HR Specialisation PGDM, 2nd Year, Batch 2015-17 and, PGDM-A/B, 1st
Year, Batch 2016-18, on Saturday, 11th February 2017 in Seminar Hall
601, 6th Floor, on the topic, ‘Creativity- the 21st
Century Skill for career development’.

She shared her 17+ years of insight into
the different ways to build creativity for the workplace.
3.
She explained various exercises of
pen-and-paper type variety on each stage of building creativity in the
environment.
4.
They are listed as below:
a.
Be inquisitive – She gave the students a
mind exercise to interpret the different ways to answer a given question in general
and at the interview stage of hiring.
b.
Collaborate – She made the students work
individually and then in pairs and made them realize the power of team-work.
c.
Be imaginative – The “iPhone” is a
typical ‘21st century example’ of “creativity” in the example of how
imagination combines a radio-player, disc-player, TV, video-enabler and camera
into one compact form of the -‘iPhone’.
d.
Persist – She replaced the word ‘DON’T QUIT’ with ‘DO IT’
e.
Tolerance of ambiguity – She explained
how welcoming ambiguity fosters creativity.
f.
Practicing Reflection – She described, “Reflection
stage” of ‘creativity’ as, ‘looking back, so that the view looking forward is
even clearer.’
5. On the whole,
the session was interesting and there was a good exchange of information.
